Museum Anatomy by Chadwick & Spector

Classic art seems to be a bit forgotten nowadays, after the discovery of photoshop and other softwares, art seems to be more on the computer than in a canvas. For my surprise, Fábio introduced me this recent project that try to recreate some classic paintings on the human body, the results are quite exquisite and beautiful.

Museum Anatomy is a collection of documentary photographs of works from museums around the world that have been recreated onto the human body. The artwork goes through a significant process until reaching the final outcome, a photograph of Chadwick, sometimes unrecognizable as a human form, with an elaborate, detailed painting covering a portion of his body. The recreated paintings of these historic portraits recapture the subjects in their own moment in history. The resulting photographs reveal a unification of art combining antiquity, history and technology in a contemporary context. (Chadwick & Spector Website)

Beautiful Houses: Lake LBJ Retreat in Texas

This week we present you the beautiful Lake LBJ Retreat.

The Lake LBJ Retreat is a project by Dick Clark Architecture, a firm founded in 1979 which covers a wide range of project types from master planning and site feasibility studies to custom single-family homes. The Lake LBJ Retreat is a 3,000 square foot (280 square meter) vacation home located an hour and half northwest of Austin, Texas. Project materials were selected based upon the evolution of vernacular for a cabin on the lake. Durability and permanence were important requirements for the final material selections. Material choices include board form cast in place concrete, exposed steel structural members, Rheinzink metal siding and ipe siding.

This house is really elegant and beautiful. The material combinations, the mix of wood, concrete and steel, everything looks pretty unique and cozy. I also loved the color contrast and the strong shapes of the place. Certainly a house I wouldn't mind living. ;)

Astonishing Illustrations by Danil Shunkov

There's an style of illustration that I really like, but actually don't know what to call it. It reminds me of indie games such as "Machinarium" and "Yet It Moves" and it has that witty feel to it.

It as a pleasant surprise for me when I ran into the work of Danil Shunkov at DeviantART. I really loved his style and just had to share it with you guys. You'll find many more great pieces of his work at his portfolio, so I really recommend you to visit it. I hope you enjoy these! Cheers. ;)
